There is a comparative analysis of hard and tough with regard to the ratios between compressive to tensile strengths. You think I know what they are?
All liquid coating systems need to be installed properly and one mistake I have seen a few times is when 2 coating contractors perform work in one shower. One contractor is the general painting contractor who is painting all the walls and then a specialty contractor is hired to install the floor coating system.

This picture above also shows painted concrete block and below is an example of re painted concrete block done by county maintenance professionals working with solvent-based epoxy coatings.
Preparing for re painting a cured epoxy coating system on concrete block is difficult. How will you mechanically abrade to dull the entire surface area without abrasive blasting as the manufacturer recommends?

Pretty common like below the finish for painted concrete showers is under developed leaving defects that accumulate soil and make cleaning for use, or re painting difficult.

Epoxy quartz floors have their own set of unique problems like if the building settles or shakes they will crack.

An epoxy quartz floor will last for about 10-15 years in a wet and dry cycling environment, like a shower, if they are well installed until they begin to crack from embrittlement. Water can then penetrate and the epoxy will dis bond from the surface.

I guess at this point the seamless floor is no long seamless but for some reason seamless never meant watertight as epoxy quartz floor systems offer the specifier an optional underlayment for waterproofing the shower. Getting water out from behind the coating can be difficult and require additional measures.

Is it irony that our shower system uses many of the same ingredients found in the best epoxy shower systems. Using aggregate on our floors to create texture uniformity and the same top coats specified by some of the most popular epoxy shower systems we use a polyaspartic polyurea floor finish a 2-component waterborne polyurethane wall finish.
From the appearance an epoxy shower looks just like our shower.
